Charity and the Minimum Requirement

SUMMARY: The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) taught that no charity is required for less than five Awaq.

It was narrated that Abu Sa'eed said: The Messenger of Allah said: "No Sadaqah is due on less than five Awaq".
أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ الْمُبَارَكِ، قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ، قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا إِدْرِيسُ الأَوْدِيُّ، عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ مُرَّةَ، عَنْ أَبِي الْبَخْتَرِيِّ، عَنْ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ، قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ‏ "‏ لَيْسَ فِيمَا دُونَ خَمْسِ أَوَاقٍ صَدَقَةٌ

EXPLANATIONS:
The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) taught his followers about charity and the minimum requirement of it. He said that no charity is required for less than five Awaq. This hadith teaches us to be generous in our giving and to not be stingy with our wealth. It also encourages us to give more than what is required so that we can help those who are in need. We should strive to give as much as we can in order to benefit others and make a difference in their lives.
