Charity on Crops

SUMMARY: The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) taught that one-tenth of the produce should be given as charity for crops watered by the sky, rivers and springs, and one-half of one-tenth should be given for crops irrigated by animals.

Jabir bin 'Abdullah said: "The Messenger of Allah said:'For that which is watered by the sky, rivers and springs, one-tenth. For whatever is irrigated by animals, one-half of one-tenth"'.

QUICK LESSONS:
Give back generously to those who are less fortunate than you
EXPLANATIONS:
The hadith narrated by Jabir bin 'Abdullah states that when it comes to giving charity on crops, a tenth of the produce should be given if it is watered by natural sources such as rain or rivers. If however, the crop is irrigated with animals then half of a tenth should be given in charity. This hadith teaches us about being generous and giving back to those who are less fortunate than us. It also encourages us to use our resources wisely and not waste them unnecessarily.
