Liability of Injuries and Taxes

SUMMARY: The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) taught that no one is liable for any injuries caused by a well, beasts, or mines and the Khumus tax is due on Rikaz.

It was narrated that Abu Hurairah said: The Messenger of Allah said: "The injuries caused by the well are without liability, 1 and beasts are without liability, and mines are without liability, and the Khumus is due on Rikaz".
أَخْبَرَنَا يَعْقُوبُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ، حَدَّثَنَا هُشَيْمٌ، أَنْبَأَنَا مَنْصُورٌ، وَهِشَامٌ، عَنِ ابْنِ سِيرِينَ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ، رضى الله عنه قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ‏ "‏ الْبِئْرُ جُبَارٌ وَالْعَجْمَاءُ جُبَارٌ وَالْمَعْدِنُ جُبَارٌ وَفِي الرِّكَازِ الْخُمْسُ

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith was narrated by Abu Hurairah who reported that the Prophet Muhammad said that no one is liable for any injuries caused by a well, beasts, or mines. He also taught that the Khumus tax is due on Rikaz which refers to hidden treasures found in the earth. This hadith teaches us about responsibility and accountability as it states that people are not responsible for accidents caused by wells, beasts or mines but they are responsible to pay taxes when they find hidden treasures in the earth. It also teaches us about justice as it states that everyone should be held accountable for their actions and should pay taxes according to Islamic law.
