Sins that Lead to Painful Torment

SUMMARY: On the Day of Resurrection, Allah will not speak to, look at or purify three types of people who have committed certain sins and will be punished with a painful torment.

It was narrated that Abu Dharr said: "The Messenger of Allah said: "There are three to whom of Allah will not speak on the Day of Resurrection or look at them or purify them, and theirs will be a painful torment: the one who reminds people of what he has given them, the one who lets his garment hang beneath his ankles, and a vendor who tries to sell his product by means of false oaths".

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about the consequences of committing certain sins. According to this hadith, on the Day of Resurrection, Allah will not speak to, look at or purify three types of people who have committed certain sins and will be punished with a painful torment. The first type is someone who reminds people of what he has given them; this could mean bragging about one's own good deeds or gifts they have given others in order to gain praise from them. The second type is someone who lets their garment hang beneath their ankles; this could mean wearing clothes that are too long and drag on the ground which can be seen as disrespectful in some cultures. The third type is a vendor who tries to sell his product by means of false oaths; this means lying about one's goods in order to make more money off it than it is worth. All these actions are considered wrong according to Islamic teachings and those who commit them will face punishment from Allah on the Day of Judgement. Therefore, it is important for Muslims to remember these teachings and strive for righteousness so they can avoid such punishments in the hereafter.
