Sunan an-Nasai 2571 (Book 23, Hadith 137) #17182
True Poverty is Humility

SUMMARY: The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) taught that true poverty is not measured by the amount of money or food one has, but rather by their humility and lack of need to ask for help.

It was narrated from Abu Hurairah that the messenger of Allah said: "The poor man (Miskin) is not the one who leaves if you give him a date or two, or a morsel or two. Rather the poor man is the one who refrains from asking. Recite if you wish: "They do not beg of people at all"'.

QUICK LESSONS:
Be humble and never feel ashamed to ask for help when needed; Strive towards true wealth which comes from within ourselves; Recite verses from Quran which remind us about this lesson such as “They do not beg of people at all” .

EXPLANATIONS:
The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) taught us an important lesson about poverty in this hadith. He said that true poverty is not measured by the amount of money or food one has, but rather by their humility and lack of need to ask for help. This means that even if someone does not have much money or food, they can still be considered wealthy if they are humble and do not feel the need to beg for help from others. Furthermore, he encourages us to recite verses from the Quran which remind us of this lesson such as “They do not beg of people at all”. This hadith teaches us that we should always strive to be humble and never feel ashamed to ask for help when we truly need it. We should also remember that true wealth comes from within ourselves and our relationship with Allah SWT, rather than material possessions or status in society.
