Sunan an-Nasai 2574 (Book 23, Hadith 140) #17185
Giving Generously to the Poor

SUMMARY: The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) advised a woman to give whatever she had, even if it was only a sheep's burned foot, to the poor.

It was narrated from 'Abdur-Rahman bin Bujaid that his grandmother Umm Bujaid -who was one of those who gave the oath of allegiance to the Messenger of Allah - said to the Messenger of Allah: " The poor man stands at my door, and I cannot find anything to give him". The Messenger of Allah said to her: "If you cannot find anything to give to him except a sheep's burned foot, then give it to him".

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about generosity and charity towards the poor. It was narrated from 'Abdur-Rahman bin Bujaid that his grandmother Umm Bujaid -who was one of those who gave the oath of allegiance to the Messenger of Allah - said to the Messenger of Allah that she could not find anything to give a poor man who stood at her door. The Prophet Muhammad then advised her that if she could not find anything else, then even a sheep's burned foot should be given as charity. This hadith teaches us that we should always be generous and charitable towards those in need, no matter how little we have or how small our contribution may seem. We should also remember that it is not just about giving money but also giving our time and effort for others in need as well.
