Sunan an-Nasai 5424 (Book 49, Hadith 46) #19956
Settling Disputes Equally

SUMMARY: The Prophet (SAW) ruled that a dispute between two men concerning an animal should be settled by splitting it equally between them, even though neither of them had any evidence.

It was narrated from Abu Musa: That two men referred a dispute to the Prophet SAW concerning an animal, and neither of them had any evidence, so he ruled that it be shared equally between them.

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about how to settle disputes in a fair and just manner. It was narrated from Abu Musa that two men referred a dispute to the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ concerning an animal, and neither of them had any evidence. In this situation, the Prophet ﷺ ruled that it should be shared equally between them. This teaches us that when we are faced with a disagreement or dispute, we should try our best to find a solution which is fair and just for both parties involved. We must also remember not to rely on hearsay or assumptions when making decisions; instead, we must look for solid evidence before coming to any conclusions.
