Seeking Refuge with Allah

SUMMARY: Seeking refuge with Allah is the best way to protect oneself.

It was narrated from Mu'adh bin 'Abdullah bin Khubaib that his father said: "I was with the Messenger of Allah SAW on the road to Makkah when I found myself alone with the Messenger of Allah SAW. I drew close to him and he said: 'Say'. I said: 'What should I say?' He said: 'Say'. I said: 'What should I say?' He said: 'Say: I seek refuge with (Allah) the Lord of the daybreak'. until he finished (the Surah), then he said: 'Say: I seek refuge with (Allah) the Lord of mankind'. until he finished it. Then he said: 'The people cannot seek refuge with Allah by means of anything better than these two'."

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about seeking refuge with Allah, the Lord of daybreak and mankind. It was narrated by Mu’adh bin ‘Abdullah bin Khubaib that his father said he was travelling with the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ when they were alone together. The Prophet ﷺ asked him to recite a prayer for protection, which included reciting “I seek refuge with Allah, the Lord of daybreak” and “I seek refuge with Allah, the Lord of mankind” until he finished each surah. The Prophet ﷺ then said that these two prayers are the best way for people to seek protection from harm or danger. This hadith teaches us that we should always turn to Allah in times of difficulty and ask Him for help and protection from all harm or danger. We should also remember that He is our Creator and Sustainer who loves us more than anyone else can ever love us, so we should trust in His mercy and guidance at all times.
