Seeking Refuge in Allah

SUMMARY: Seeking refuge in Allah from hunger and treachery.

It was narrated that Abu Hurairah said: "The Messenger of Allah SAW said: 'Allahumma inni a'udhu bika minal-ju'I, fa innahu bi'sad-daji'u, wa a'udhu bika minal-khiyanati, fa innahu bi'satil-bitanah (O Allah, I seek refuge in You from hunger, for it is a bad companion, and I seek refuge with You from treachery, for it is a bad thing to hide in one's heart)'"

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is narrated by Abu Hurairah, who was a companion of the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ. In this hadith, the Prophet ﷺ teaches us to seek refuge in Allah from hunger and treachery. He explains that hunger is a bad companion because it can lead to desperation and despair, while treachery is a bad thing to hide in one's heart because it can lead to dishonesty and betrayal. By seeking refuge with Allah from these two things, we are asking Him for protection against their negative effects on our lives. We should also strive to be honest and kind towards others so that we do not fall into the trap of deceitfulness or betrayal.
