Seeking Refuge in Allah from Travel Hardships

SUMMARY: This hadith is about seeking refuge in Allah from the hardships of travel and the sorrows of returning home.

It was narrated that Abu Hurairah said: "When the Messenger of Allah SAW traveled and rode his mount, he gestured with his finger - and Shu'bah (one of the narrators) stretched out his finger - and said: 'Allahumma, antas-sahibu fis-safari wal-khalifatu fil-ahli wal-mal. Allahumma, inni a'udhu bika min wa'tha'is-safari, wa kabatil-munqalabi (O Allah, You are our help when we are traveling and the One Who takes care of our families and wealth (in our absence). O Allah, I seek refuge in You from the hardships of travel and the sorrows of return)'"

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is narrated by Abu Hurairah, who was a companion of Prophet Muhammad [SAW]. In this hadith, Prophet Muhammad [SAW] is teaching us to seek refuge in Allah when we are traveling and away from our families and wealth. He taught us to say "Allahumma, antas-sahibu fis-safari wal-khalifatu fil-ahli wal-mal. Allahumma, inni a'udhu bika min wa'tha'is safari, wa kabatil munqalabi" which translates to "O Allah, You are our help when we are traveling and the One Who takes care of our families and wealth in our absence. O Allah, I seek refuge in You from the hardships of travel and the sorrows of return". This hadith teaches us that no matter where we go or how far away we may be from home or family members; it is important to always remember that God will take care of them while we are gone if we put our trust in Him. It also reminds us that even though traveling can be exciting at times; it can also be difficult so it's important for us to ask for protection against any potential difficulties or dangers that may arise during our travels.
