Seeking Refuge in Allah's Greatness

SUMMARY: Seeking refuge in Allah from being swallowed up from beneath.

'Umar said: "I heard the Messenger of Allah SAW say: 'Allahumma, inni a'udhu bi-'azamatika an ughtala min tahti (O Allah, I seek refuge in Your greatness from being swallowed up from beneath me)'"
حَدَّثَنَا عَمْرُو بْنُ مَنْصُورٍ، قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا الْفَضْلُ بْنُ دُكَيْنٍ، عَنْ عُبَادَةَ بْنِ مُسْلِمٍ، قَالَ حَدَّثَنِي جُبَيْرُ بْنُ أَبِي سُلَيْمَانَ بْنِ جُبَيْرِ بْنِ مُطْعِمٍ، أَنَّ ابْنَ عُمَرَ، قَالَ سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ يَقُولُ ‏ "‏ اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَعُوذُ بِعَظَمَتِكَ أَنْ أُغْتَالَ مِنْ تَحْتِي ‏"‏ ‏.‏ قَالَ جُبَيْرٌ وَهُوَ الْخَسْفُ ‏.‏ قَالَ عُبَادَةُ فَلاَ أَدْرِي قَوْلَ النَّبِيِّ أَوْ قَوْلَ جُبَيْرٍ

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is narrated by 'Umar ibn al-Khattab, one of the companions of Prophet Muhammad [SAW]. In this hadith, he is conveying a supplication that was taught to him by the Prophet [SAW], which is to seek refuge in Allah's greatness from being swallowed up from beneath. This supplication serves as a reminder for us to always turn to Allah and seek His protection and refuge against any harm or danger that may come our way. It also teaches us about the importance of having faith and trust in Allah, knowing that He alone can protect us from any harm or danger. Furthermore, it encourages us to be mindful of our actions and deeds so that we may be deserving of His protection.
