Sunan Abi Dawud 210 (Book 1, Hadith 210) #20501
Ablution and Cleanliness

SUMMARY: The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) advised Sahl ibn Hunayf to perform ablution when he was troubled by frequent prostatic fluid flow and to sprinkle a handful of water on his clothes if it smeared them.

Narrated Sahl ibn Hunayf: I felt greatly distressed by the frequent flowing of prostatic fluid. For this reason I used to take a bath very often. I asked the apostle of Allah about this. He replied: Ablution will be sufficient for you because of this. I asked: Messenger of Allah, what should I do if it smears my clothes. He replied: It is sufficient if you take a handful of water and sprinkle it on your clothe when you find it has smeared it.

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about the importance of cleanliness and ablution in Islam. The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) advised Sahl ibn Hunayf to perform ablutions when he was troubled by frequent prostatic fluid flow, which is known as madhiy in Arabic. He also instructed him to sprinkle a handful of water on his clothes if it smeared them, instead of taking a full bath every time. This hadith teaches us that we should take care of our hygiene and clean ourselves regularly, even if we are not performing any religious rituals or prayers. It also shows us that Islam encourages us to be mindful about our environment and not waste resources unnecessarily. Additionally, this hadith emphasizes the importance of being considerate towards others; for example, sprinkling water on one's clothes instead of washing them completely can help conserve water for other people who may need it more than oneself.
