Ablution Before Eating and Sleeping

SUMMARY: The Prophet (PBUH) would perform ablution before eating or sleeping, especially when he was sexually defiled.

'A’ishah reported : When the Prophet (May peace be upon him) wanted to eat or sleep, he would perform ablution. She meant that (the prophet did so) when he was sexually defiled.
حَدَّثَنَا مُسَدَّدٌ، حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ، عَنِ الْحَكَمِ، عَنْ إِبْرَاهِيمَ، عَنِ الأَسْوَدِ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ، أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ كَانَ إِذَا أَرَادَ أَنْ يَأْكُلَ أَوْ يَنَامَ تَوَضَّأَ ‏.‏ تَعْنِي وَهُوَ جُنُبٌ

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about the importance of performing ablution before eating and sleeping. It was narrated by A'ishah that when the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ wanted to eat or sleep, he would perform ablution. This is especially important if one has been sexually defiled as it is a form of purification for the body and soul. Performing wudu helps us to be mindful of our actions and stay connected with Allah SWT in all aspects of life. It also serves as a reminder to be conscious of our physical cleanliness which is essential for spiritual purity.

The practice of wudu teaches us discipline, humility, and respect for ourselves and others around us. It also encourages us to take care of our bodies in order to maintain good health both physically and spiritually. Furthermore, it serves as an act of worship that brings us closer to Allah SWT through prayerful remembrance throughout the day.
