The Power of Supplication

SUMMARY: Supplication is a form of worship and Allah will answer the prayers of those who call upon Him.

Narrated An-Nu'man ibn Bashir: The Prophet said: Supplication (du'a') is itself the worship. (He then recited:) "And your Lord said: Call on Me, I will answer you" (xI.60).
حَدَّثَنَا حَفْصُ بْنُ عُمَرَ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ، عَنْ مَنْصُورٍ، عَنْ ذَرٍّ، عَنْ يُسَيْعٍ الْحَضْرَمِيِّ، عَنِ النُّعْمَانِ بْنِ بَشِيرٍ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ قَالَ ‏"‏ الدُّعَاءُ هُوَ الْعِبَادَةُ ‏{‏ قَالَ رَبُّكُمُ ادْعُونِي أَسْتَجِبْ لَكُمْ

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith explains the power and importance of supplication or du’a in Islam. Du’a is an act of worship that Muslims perform to ask for help from Allah. It is believed that when one calls upon Allah with sincerity and faith, He will answer their prayers. The hadith also references a verse from the Quran which states “And your Lord said: Call on Me, I will answer you” as proof that supplications are answered by God. This hadith teaches us to have faith in God and to always turn to Him in times of need through prayer or du’a.
