Sunan Abi Dawud 1526 (Book 8, Hadith 111) #21818
Supplicating to Allah, Who Is Near Us

SUMMARY: The hadith is about the importance of supplicating to Allah and the reminder that He is always near us.

Narrated AbuMusa al-Ash'ari: Once we accompanied the Messenger of Allah on a journey. When we reached near Medina, the people began to say aloud: "Allah is most great," and they raised their voice. The Messenger of Allah said: O people, you are not supplicating one who is deaf and absent, but you are supplicating One Who is nearer to you than the neck of your riding beast. The Messenger of Allah then said: AbuMusa, should I not point out to you one of the treasures of Paradise? I asked: What is that? He replied: "There is no might and there is no power except in Allah"

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith reminds us of the importance of supplicating to Allah and that He is always near us. The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ said that he would point out one of the treasures of Paradise which was “There is no might and there is no power except in Allah”. This phrase serves as a reminder for us to turn to Him in times of difficulty, as only He has true power over all things. We should remember this phrase when we are feeling overwhelmed or helpless, so we can turn our attention back towards Him and ask for His help. Additionally, this hadith also reminds us that even though we cannot see Him or hear Him directly, He knows what we are saying and will answer our prayers if they are sincere.
