EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about seeking refuge from Allah from five things. These five things are cowardliness, niggardliness, the evils of old age, evil thoughts and punishment in the grave. Cowardly means being scared or timid when faced with danger or difficulty. Niggardly means being stingy or miserly with money and possessions. The evils of old age refer to physical ailments that come with aging such as poor eyesight and hearing loss. Evil thoughts are whispers that come from Satan which can lead one astray if not resisted. Lastly, punishment in the grave refers to a person being punished for their sins after death before they enter paradise or hellfire on judgement day. It is important for us to remember these five things so we can seek protection from them by asking Allah for help through prayer and supplication as taught by Prophet Muhammad ﷺ .
