Invoking Blessings on the Prophet

SUMMARY: The Prophet (ﷺ) advised not to make houses into graves and his grave a place of festivity, but rather to invoke blessings on him.

Narrated AbuHurayrah: The Prophet said: Do not make your houses graves, and do not make my grave a place of festivity. But invoke blessings on me, for your blessings reach me wherever you may be.

QUICK LESSONS:
Invoke blessing on the prophet
EXPLANATIONS:
The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ taught us that we should not turn our homes into places of mourning or sadness, nor should we turn his grave into a place of celebration. Instead, he asked us to invoke blessings upon him wherever we may be. This means that when we remember the Prophet ﷺ and think about his teachings, we should send salutations and prayers upon him in order for those blessings to reach him in the afterlife. This is an important part of our faith as Muslims because it shows our love and respect for the Prophet ﷺ who brought us guidance from Allah SWT. We can do this by saying “Allahumma salli ala Muhammad” which translates to “O Allah! Send your peace and blessings upon Muhammad”.
