Sunan Abi Dawud 2045 (Book 11, Hadith 325) #22336
Stopping at al-Mu'arras on the Way Back to Medina

SUMMARY: The Prophet (ﷺ) stopped at al-Mu'arras, which is six miles away from Medina, and advised people not to exceed it when returning to Medina until they have prayed as much as they wish.

Narrated Malik: One should not exceed al-Mu'arras when one returns to Medina until one prays there as much as one wishes, for I have been informed that the Messenger of Allah halted there at night. Abu Dawud said: I heard Muhammad b. Ishaq al-Madini say: Al-Mu'arras lies at a distance of six miles from Medina.

QUICK LESSONS:
Take time out for prayer no matter where you are or what you are doing
EXPLANATIONS:
The hadith narrated by Malik tells us that when returning to the city of Medina, one should not go beyond a place called al-Mu’arras. This place is located six miles away from the city of Medina. It is said that the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ used to stop there for a while before continuing his journey back home. He advised people not to go beyond this point until they have prayed as much as they wish. This hadith teaches us about being mindful of our religious obligations even during travel and encourages us to take time out for prayer no matter where we are or what we are doing. It also reminds us of how important it was for the Prophet ﷺ himself to observe his religious duties and take time out for prayer even during travel.
