The Importance of a Woman's Permission in Marriage

SUMMARY: A woman's permission is required before she can be married, and her permission is indicated by her silence.

Abu Hurairah reported the Prophet as saying " A woman who has been previously married should not be married until her permission is asked nor should a virgin be married without her permission".They (the people) asked "What is her permission, Apostle of Allaah? He replied "it is by her keeping silence".

QUICK LESSONS:
Ask for a woman's permission before marrying her .

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith emphasizes the importance of a woman's permission when it comes to marriage. It teaches us that no matter if the woman is previously married or not, her consent must be asked before any marriage takes place. The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) clarified that this consent should not be verbal but rather indicated through silence. This hadith highlights the importance of respecting women and their right to choose who they want to marry without any external pressure or influence. It also shows us how much value was placed on women in Islam and how their opinion was taken into consideration even during the time of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him).
