Sunan Abi Dawud 3891 (Book 29, Hadith 37) #24181
A Prayer for Healing

SUMMARY: The Prophet ﷺ taught a prayer to 'Uthman b. Abi al-As to help him with his pain, which was successful in removing it.

'Uthman b. Abl al-As said that he came to the Messenger of Allah '.Uthman said : I had a pain which was about to destroy me. So the Prophet said : Wipe it with your right hand seven times and say : "I seek refuge in the dominance of Allah, and His might from the evil of what I find". Then I did it. Allah removed (the pain) that I had, and I kept on suggesting it to my family and to others.

QUICK LESSONS:
Turn towards Allah during difficult times
EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith tells us of the power of prayer and how it can be used as a form of healing. Uthman b. Abi al-As came to the Prophet with a pain that was about to destroy him, and the Prophet taught him a prayer that he could use to seek refuge in Allah's dominance and might from the evil of what he found. After reciting this prayer seven times, Uthman's pain was removed and he kept on suggesting it to his family and others who were suffering from similar pains or illnesses. This hadith teaches us that we should always turn towards Allah in times of difficulty or distress, as He is our ultimate source of strength and refuge from all harm or evil. We should also remember that even though we may not always be able to physically see Him, He is always there for us when we need Him most - all we have to do is ask!
