EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith speaks of the importance of not praising people excessively. It was narrated by Hammam that a man came and praised 'Uthman in his face, to which al-Miqdad b. Al-Aswad took dust and threw it on his face, saying that the Prophet Muhammad said “When you see those who are given to praising people, throw dust in their faces”. This hadith teaches us to be humble and not praise others too much as it can lead to arrogance or pride. We should also be mindful of our words when speaking about others as we do not know what they are truly like inside or how Allah will judge them later on. Furthermore, this hadith serves as a reminder for us to stay away from excessive flattery or compliments towards anyone else so that we may remain humble ourselves and remember Allah's greatness above all else.
