This hadith speaks of the importance of not praising people excessively. It was narrated by Hammam that a man came and praised 'Uthman in his face, to which al-Miqdad b. Al-Aswad took dust and threw it on his face, saying that the Prophet Muhammad said “When you see those who are given to praising people, throw dust in their faces”.
