Seek repentance from Allah if you commit a sin; show mercy towards those who repent from their sins; accept second chances in life; do not punish severely those who make mistakes; seek forgiveness from Allah sincerely with true regret for your actions.

This hadith is about a woman who committed theft during the Ghazwa of the Conquest of Mecca. She was taken to the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ who ordered her hand to be cut off as punishment for her crime. However, 'Aisha said that she had repented perfectly and so she was allowed to marry afterwards. She would come back to 'Aisha with her needs and 'Aisha would present them to Allah's Messenger ﷺ. This hadith teaches us that repentance is accepted by Allah even after committing a major sin such as theft if it is done sincerely with true regret for one's actions. It also shows us that mercy should be shown towards those who repent from their sins since they are given another chance at life instead of being punished severely for their mistakes.
