Divorce After Suckling Claims

SUMMARY: A man asked the Prophet (PBUH) for advice on whether to keep his wife after another woman claimed that she had suckled them both. The Prophet (PBUH) advised him to divorce her.

Narrated 'Uqba bin Al-Harith: I married a woman and later on a woman came and said, "I suckled you both". So, I went to the Prophet (to ask him about it). He said, "How can you (keep her as a wife) when it has been said (that you were foster brother and sister)? Leave (divorce) her.

Another woman had come forward and said that she had suckled both of them when they were children, which would make them foster siblings and thus unable to marry each other according to Islamic law. The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) advised the man to divorce his wife in order for them both to remain within the boundaries of Islamic law.
