Giving Away for Free in the Name of Allah

SUMMARY: The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) asked the people of Bani An-Najjar to give him their garden for free, and they replied that they would not ask its price except from Allah.

Narrated Anas bin Malik: When Allah's Messenger came to Medina, he ordered that a mosque be built. He said, "O Bani An- Najjar! Suggest me a price for the garden of yours". They replied, "By Allah, we will not ask its price except from Allah".

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about giving away something for free in the name of Allah. The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ asked the people of Bani An Najjar to give him their garden as a donation, and they agreed without asking anything in return. They said that they would only ask its price from Allah, meaning that it was a gift given out of love and devotion to God. This hadith teaches us about generosity and kindness towards others, even if we don't get anything back in return. It also shows us how important it is to have faith in God's rewards; even if we don't get something tangible right away, our good deeds will be rewarded by Him eventually.
