Sahih al-Bukhari 2808 (Book 56, Hadith 24) #2684
The Reward of Little Work

SUMMARY: A man asked the Prophet (ﷺ) if he should fight or embrace Islam first, and the Prophet (ﷺ) told him to embrace Islam first and then fight. He was martyred and the Prophet (ﷺ) said that he will be rewarded in abundance for his little work.

Narrated Al-Bara: A man whose face was covered with an iron mask (ie clad in armor) came to the Prophet and said, "O Allah's Messenger ! Shall I fight or embrace Islam first? "The Prophet said, "Embrace Islam first and then fight". So he embraced Islam, and was martyred. Allah's Messenger said, A Little work, but a great reward".(He did very little (after embracing Islam), but he will be rewarded in abundance).

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about a man who came to the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ asking whether he should fight or embrace Islam first. The Prophet ﷺ told him to embrace Islam first, so he did and was martyred afterwards. The Prophet ﷺ then said that this man will be rewarded in abundance for his little work, which means that even though this man only did a small amount of work after embracing Islam, Allah will reward him greatly for it. This hadith teaches us that we should always strive to do good deeds no matter how small they may seem because Allah rewards those who are sincere in their efforts with great rewards. It also teaches us that we must always put our faith in Allah before anything else because He is the one who can truly help us achieve success in life.
