The Story of Al-Khadir

SUMMARY: The hadith is about the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) explaining why a man was called Al-Khadir.

Narrated Abu Hurairah: that the Messenger of Allah said: "He was called Al-Khadir because he sat on a barren Farwah and it turned green beneath him".
حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ مُوسَى، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ، أَخْبَرَنَا مَعْمَرٌ، عَنْ هَمَّامِ بْنِ مُنَبِّهٍ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ، قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ‏ "‏ إِنَّمَا سُمِّيَ الْخَضِرَ لأَنَّهُ جَلَسَ عَلَى فَرْوَةٍ بَيْضَاءَ فَاهْتَزَّتْ تَحْتَهُ خَضْرَاءَ ‏"‏ ‏.‏ قَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى هَذَا حَدِيثٌ حَسَنٌ صَحِيحٌ غَرِيبٌ

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about the story of a man named Al-Khadir. According to the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), he was given this name because he sat on a barren Farwah and it turned green beneath him. It also shows us that even in difficult times we should have faith in Allah and trust that He will provide for us when we need it most.
