Sunan Ibn Majah 1827 (Book 8, Hadith 45) #31179
The Importance of Zakatul-Fitr

SUMMARY: The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) commanded that Zakatul-Fitr be given as a form of purification from bad behavior and to feed the poor.

It was narrated that: Ibn Abbas said: "The Messenger of Allah enjoined Zakatul-Fitr as a purification for the fasting person from idle talk and obscenities, and to feed the poor. Whoever pays it before the (Eid) prayer, it is an accepted Zakah, and whoever pays it after the prayer, it is (ordinary) charity".

QUICK LESSONS:
Give charity in the form of zakah al fitr; Stay away from idle talk and obscenities; Help those in need; Pay zakah before or after Eid prayer

EXPLANATIONS:
The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) commanded that Zakatul-Fitr be given as a form of purification from bad behavior and to feed the poor. This is an important religious obligation for Muslims during Ramadan, which is the month of fasting. It is meant to help those who are less fortunate, so they can also enjoy Eid al Fitr, which marks the end of Ramadan. It also serves as a reminder for Muslims to stay away from idle talk and obscenities during this holy month. Paying it before Eid prayer will make it an accepted zakah while paying it after prayer will make it charity.
