The Dangers of Unnecessary Begging

SUMMARY: Begging for money when one has enough to suffice them is discouraged.

Abdullah bin Mas'ud narrated that: the Messenger of Allah said: "Whoever begs when he has enough to suffice him, his begging will come on the Day of Resurrection like lacerations on his face". It was said: "O Messenger of Allah, what is sufficient for him?" He said: "Fifty Dirham or their value in gold".

QUICK LESSONS:
Do not beg for money if you have enough to suffice yourself and your family; use your resources wisely; be generous with those who are less fortunate than you; help others out whenever possible; give charity generously.

EXPLANATIONS:
In this hadith, the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ warns against begging for money when one has enough to suffice them. He explains that if someone begs in such a situation, it will be like lacerations on their face on the Day of Resurrection. When asked what is considered sufficient, he replied with fifty Dirham or its equivalent in gold. This hadith teaches us that we should not beg for money if we have enough to sustain ourselves and our families and instead use our resources wisely and responsibly. We should also be generous with those who are less fortunate than us and help them out whenever possible as Allah rewards those who give charity generously.
