Respect for Women’s Rights; Respect for Boundaries; Listen & Value Women’s Voices

This hadith is about the rights of widows and virgins. It was narrated by Ibn Abbas that the Prophet Muhammad said that a widow has more right to decide concerning herself than her guardian, and a virgin should be consulted. When it was suggested that a virgin may be too shy to speak, he said that her consent is her silence. This hadith teaches us that women have rights over their own lives, even if they are not able to express themselves verbally. It also shows us how important it is for women's voices to be heard in society, as their opinions matter just as much as anyone else's.
