Marriage Celebrations

SUMMARY: The Prophet saw traces of yellow perfume on 'Abdur-Rahmaan bin 'Awf and asked him about it. He replied that he had married a woman for the weight of a stone of gold, to which the Prophet blessed him and advised him to give a feast even if it was with only one sheep.

It was narrated from Anas bin Malik: the Prophet saw traces of yellow perfume on 'Abdur-Rahmaan bin 'Awf, and he asked him "What is this?" He said: "O Messenger of Allah, I married a women for the weight of a Nawah (Stone) of gold. He said: "May Allah bless you. Give a feast even if it is only with one sheep".
حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ عَبْدَةَ، حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ زَيْدٍ، حَدَّثَنَا ثَابِتٌ الْبُنَانِيُّ، عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ، أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ـ ـ رَأَى عَلَى عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ عَوْفٍ أَثَرَ صُفْرَةٍ فَقَالَ ‏"‏ مَا هَذَا أَوْ مَهْ ‏"‏ ‏.‏ فَقَالَ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ إِنِّي تَزَوَّجْتُ امْرَأَةً عَلَى وَزْنِ نَوَاةٍ مِنْ ذَهَبٍ ‏.‏ فَقَالَ ‏"‏ بَارَكَ اللَّهُ لَكَ أَوْلِمْ وَلَوْ بِشَاةٍ
