Celebrating Weddings with Sawiq and Dates

SUMMARY: The Prophet offered Sawiq and dates as a wedding feast for Safiyyah.

It was narrated from Anas bin Malik: that the Prophet offered Sawiq and dates as a wedding feast for Safiyyah.
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ أَبِي عُمَرَ الْعَدَنِيُّ، وَغِيَاثُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ الرَّحَبِيُّ، قَالاَ حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ بْنُ عُيَيْنَةَ، حَدَّثَنَا وَائِلُ بْنُ دَاوُدَ، عَنِ ابْنِهِ، عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ، عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ، أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ـ ـ أَوْلَمَ عَلَى صَفِيَّةَ بِسَوِيقٍ وَتَمْرٍ

The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) was known to celebrate weddings in a special way. He would offer sawiq and dates as a wedding feast for the bride.
