Attending Weddings Without Meat and Bread

SUMMARY: The Prophet attended a wedding feast with no meat or bread.

It was narrated from Sufyan (Ibn 'Uyainah) from 'Ali bin Zaid bin Ju'dan from Anas bin Malik who said: "I attended a wedding feast for the Prophet in which there was no meat and no bread". Ibn Majah said: It was not narrated except by Ibn 'Uyainah.
حَدَّثَنَا زُهَيْرُ بْنُ حَرْبٍ أَبُو خَيْثَمَةَ، حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ، عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ زَيْدِ بْنِ جُدْعَانَ، عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ، قَالَ شَهِدْتُ لِلنَّبِيِّ ـ ـ وَلِيمَةً مَا فِيهَا لَحْمٌ وَلاَ خُبْزٌ ‏.‏ قَالَ ابْنُ مَاجَهْ لَمْ يُحَدِّثْ بِهِ إِلاَّ ابْنُ عُيَيْنَةَ

This hadith is about the Prophet attending a wedding feast without any meat or bread. It is narrated by Sufyan Ibn 'Uyainah from 'Ali bin Zaid bin Ju'dan from Anas bin Malik who said that he attended a wedding feast for the Prophet in which there was no meat and no bread. This hadith teaches us that it is permissible to attend weddings without having to provide food for guests.
