EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith speaks to the importance of upholding marriage contracts. It was narrated from Ibn 'Abbas that the Prophet Muhammad returned his daughter to Abul-'As bin Rabi' after two years, on the basis of the first marriage contract. This shows that even though it was difficult for him as a father, he still respected and upheld their agreement and did not interfere with their relationship. This teaches us that we should always respect our agreements and commitments in life, no matter how hard it may be at times. We should also strive to keep our promises and fulfill our obligations in order to maintain trustworthiness in all aspects of life.
