No Li'an for Certain Women Married to Muslims

SUMMARY: The Prophet ﷺ taught that there is no Li'an for four kinds of women who are married to a Muslim.

It was nanated from 'Amr bin Shu'aib, from his father, from his grandfather, that: the Prophet said: "There are four kinds of women for whom there is no Li'an: a Christian woman married to a Muslim, a Jewish woman married to a Muslim, a free woman married to a slave, and a slave woman married to a free man".

QUICK LESSONS:
Respect different religions and backgrounds when it comes to marriage; understand everyone has different circumstances; respect marriages regardless form or background; accept interfaith marriages without judgement .

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith teaches us about the importance of marriage and how it should be respected in all forms. The Prophet (ﷺ) taught that there is no Li’an for four kinds of women who are married to a Muslim. A Christian woman married to a Muslim, a Jewish woman married to a Muslim, a free woman married to a slave, and a slave woman married to a free man are all exempt from the practice of Li’an which involves two people making an oath against each other in order to prove their innocence or guilt in certain matters related with marriage. This hadith shows us that these marriages should be respected and not judged by others as they have been given special protection by the Prophet (ﷺ). It also teaches us about the importance of respecting different religions and backgrounds when it comes to marriage as well as understanding that everyone has different circumstances which must be taken into consideration when dealing with such matters.
