QUICK LESSONS:
Be careful with your words & actions; Offer expiations if necessary; Mindful of consequences of one's action; Keep promises & oaths you make .
EXPLANATIONS:
The hadith narrated by 'Aishah tells us that the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) swore to keep away from his wives and declared them as unlawful for him. This means that he made something permissible forbidden. He then offered expiation for having sworn to do so. This teaches us that we should be careful when making oaths or promises as it is not always easy to keep them. We should also be mindful of our actions and words as they can have a great impact on our lives and the lives of those around us. Furthermore, if we make an oath or promise that we cannot keep, then it is important to offer expiation in order to make up for it in some way.
