Following the Example of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH)

SUMMARY: The hadith is about the importance of following the example of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) and avoiding swearing.

It was narrated from Sa'eed bin Jubair that Ibn 'Abbas said: "For the one who makes unlawful is the swearing". (Sahih)And Ibn 'Abbas used to say: "You had the best example in the Messenger of Allah". (33:21)
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى، حَدَّثَنَا وَهْبُ بْنُ جَرِيرٍ، حَدَّثَنَا هِشَامٌ الدَّسْتَوَائِيُّ، عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ أَبِي كَثِيرٍ، عَنْ يَعْلَى بْنِ حَكِيمٍ، عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ جُبَيْرٍ، قَالَ قَالَ ابْنُ عَبَّاسٍ فِي الْحَرَامِ يَمِينٌ ‏.‏ وَكَانَ ابْنُ عَبَّاسٍ يَقُولُ لَقَدْ كَانَ لَكُمْ فِي رَسُولِ اللَّهِ أُسْوَةٌ حَسَنَةٌ

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about following the example of Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him). It was narrated from Sa'eed bin Jubair that Ibn 'Abbas said that it is unlawful to swear or take an oath. He also used to say that we should follow the best example in the Messenger of Allah as mentioned in (33:21) Surah Al-Ahzab verse 21. This hadith teaches us to be mindful when taking an oath and to strive to follow in the footsteps of our beloved prophet by being kind and compassionate towards others. We should always remember that our actions reflect on how we are perceived by others and how we will be judged by Allah on Judgment Day.
