Freedom of Choice

SUMMARY: The Prophet Muhammad gave a woman the choice to be freed from slavery and she chose to be with her free husband.

It was narrated from Aishah that: she freed Barirah and the Messenger of Allah gave her the choice, and she (Barirah) had a free husband.
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ، حَدَّثَنَا حَفْصُ بْنُ غِيَاثٍ، عَنِ الأَعْمَشِ، عَنْ إِبْرَاهِيمَ، عَنِ الأَسْوَدِ بْنِ يَزِيدَ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ، أَنَّهَا أَعْتَقَتْ بَرِيرَةَ فَخَيَّرَهَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ـ ـ وَكَانَ لَهَا زَوْجٌ حُرٌّ

This hadith is about the Prophet Muhammad giving a woman, Barirah, the choice to be freed from slavery. He gave her this freedom of choice and she chose to stay with her free husband.
