Mourning Periods of Women

SUMMARY: It is not permissible for a woman to mourn for any deceased person more than three days, except for her husband.

It was narrated from 'Aishah that: the Prophet said: "It is not permissible for a woman to mourn for any deceased person for more than three days, except for her husband".
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ، حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ بْنُ عُيَيْنَةَ، عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ، عَنْ عُرْوَةَ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ـ ـ قَالَ ‏ "‏ لاَ يَحِلُّ لاِمْرَأَةٍ أَنْ تُحِدَّ عَلَى مَيِّتٍ فَوْقَ ثَلاَثٍ إِلاَّ عَلَى زَوْجٍ

This hadith explains that it is not permissible for a woman to mourn the death of someone other than her husband for more than three days. This hadith also teaches us that we should prioritize our relationships and show extra love and care towards our spouses.
