Maintain good relationships with family members and relatives even if they have wronged you in some way.

This hadith is about upholding ties of kinship, which is an important part of Islamic teachings. It was narrated from Abul-Ahwas 'Awf bin Malik Al- Jushami that his father said he asked the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) what he should do if his cousin came to him and he swore that he would not give him anything or uphold the ties of kinship with him. The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) advised him to offer expiation for what he swore about, which means that one should seek forgiveness from Allah for taking an oath not to uphold ties of kinship.
