Sunan Ibn Majah 2335 (Book 13, Hadith 28) #31687
Being Neighborly and Kind

SUMMARY: The Prophet ﷺ taught that one should not refuse a neighbor's request to fix something to their wall.

It was narrated that Anas bin Malik said: "The Prophet : 'When anyone of you asks his neighbor for permission to fix a piece of wood to his wall, he should not refuse him'.When Abu Hurairah told them this, they lowered their heads, and when he saw them he said: 'Why do I see you turning away from it? By Allah, I will force you to accept it'. "

QUICK LESSONS:
Grant requests from neighbors if possible

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith teaches us the importance of being kind and neighborly. It was narrated by Anas bin Malik that the Prophet said when someone asks their neighbor for permission to fix something on their wall they should not refuse them. Abu Hurairah saw people turning away from this teaching and he said he would force them to accept it. This hadith teaches us that we should be kind and generous with our neighbors and not deny them requests if it is within our power to grant it. We should also be mindful of how we treat others as Abu Hurairah saw people turning away from this teaching which shows how important it is for us to be kind in our interactions with others.
