SUMMARY: The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) allowed a single witness to be accepted in the absence of two witnesses.

It was narrated from Abu Hurairah that: the Messenger of Allah passed judgment on the basis of an oath (from the claimant) along with a (single) witness. This is in the absence of two witnesses.

QUICK LESSONS:
Accept evidence and testimony even if it comes from only one source .
EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about the acceptance of a single witness in the absence of two witnesses. It was narrated by Abu Hurairah that the Messenger of Allah passed judgment on the basis of an oath from the claimant along with a single witness. This means that if there are no two witnesses, then one witness can be accepted as evidence, provided that it is accompanied by an oath from the claimant. This hadith teaches us to accept evidence and testimony even if it comes from only one source, as long as it is accompanied by an oath or promise from someone who has something to gain or lose based on their statement being true or false.
