Sunan Ibn Majah 4171 (Book 37, Hadith 72) #33527
Praying with Sincerity and Not Expecting Too Much from Others

SUMMARY: The Prophet ﷺ advised a man to pray with sincerity and not to expect too much from others.

It was narrated that Abu Ayyub said: "A man came to the Prophet and said: 'O Messenger of Allah, teach me but make it concise.’ He said: 'When you stand to pray, pray like a man bidding farewell. Do not say anything for which you will have to apologize. And give up hope for what other people have.’"

QUICK LESSONS:
Pray sincerely . Put your trust in Allah Alone . Do not say anything which requires apology .

EXPLANATIONS:
The hadith narrated by Abu Ayyub speaks of the importance of praying with sincerity. When we stand to pray, we should do so as if it is our last prayer, without saying anything that would require us to apologize later on. Additionally, the Prophet also advised against expecting too much from other people. We should not rely on them for our needs or desires; instead, we should put our trust in Allah alone. This hadith teaches us that when it comes to matters of faith and spirituality, we must be sincere in our intentions and actions; otherwise, they will be rendered meaningless. Furthermore, it reminds us that no matter how hard we try or how much effort we put into something, ultimately only Allah can provide for us what is best for us.
