Trustworthiness of Abu 'Ubaida

SUMMARY: The Prophet (ﷺ) promised to send the people of Najran the most trustworthy man, and he sent Abu 'Ubaida.

Narrated Hudhaifa: The Prophet said to the people of Najran, "I will send you the most trustworthy man". (Every one of) the companions of the Prophet was looking forward (to be that person). He then sent Abu 'Ubaida.
حَدَّثَنَا مُسْلِمُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ، عَنْ أَبِي إِسْحَاقَ، عَنْ صِلَةَ، عَنْ حُذَيْفَةَ ـ رضى الله عنه ـ قَالَ قَالَ النَّبِيُّ لأَهْلِ نَجْرَانَ ‏ "‏ لأَبْعَثَنَّ ـ يَعْنِي عَلَيْكُمْ ـ يَعْنِي أَمِينًا ـ حَقَّ أَمِينٍ ‏"‏‏.‏ فَأَشْرَفَ أَصْحَابُهُ، فَبَعَثَ أَبَا عُبَيْدَةَ رضى الله عنه‏.‏
