Riyad as-Salihin 703 (Book 1, Hadith 24) #37192
Attending Prayer with Tranquility

SUMMARY: When attending prayer, one should walk calmly and join in the prayer when they can, and make up for what they miss.

Abu Hurairah (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: I heard the Messenger of Allah saying, "When the Iqamah are pronounced, do not come to it running, you should walk calmly with tranquillity to join the congregation. Then join in what you catch for and complete what you miss". Al-Bukhari and Muslim. In Muslim it is added: Messenger of Allah said, "For when one of you is walking for Salat, he is, in fact, engaged in Salat".

QUICK LESSONS:
Walk calmly when attending prayers

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about how to attend prayer. The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) taught that when the call to prayer is made, one should not rush or run to it but rather walk calmly and peacefully. He also said that if someone misses part of the prayer due to arriving late then they should make up for what was missed. This hadith teaches us that we must approach our prayers with a sense of peace and tranquility as well as respect for the act itself. It also reminds us that if we are late or miss part of our prayers then we must make an effort to complete them in order to fulfill our religious obligations.
