Entrusting Allah Before a Journey

SUMMARY: When someone is about to go on a journey, they should be reminded to entrust Allah with their Deen, trust and last deeds.

Salim bin 'Abdullah bin 'Umar (May Allah be pleased with them) reported: When a man was to set out on a journey, 'Abdullah bin 'Umar (May Allah be pleased with them) would say to him: "Draw near so that I may bid farewell to you as Messenger of Allah used to bid farewell to us. (The Messenger of Allah used to say: "'Astaudi'ullaha dinaka, wa amanataka, wa khawatima 'amalika' (I entrust Allah with your Deen, your trust and your last deeds)". At-Tirmidhi.

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about the importance of entrusting one's faith and actions to Allah before embarking on a journey. It was narrated by Salim bin 'Abdullah bin 'Umar (May Allah be pleased with them). The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) used to bid farewell to those who were going on journeys by saying "Astaudi'ullaha dinaka, wa amanataka, wa khawatima 'amalika" which translates as "I entrust Allah with your Deen, your trust and your last deeds". This phrase serves as an important reminder for us that we should always put our faith in God before we set out on any kind of journey. We must remember that no matter what happens during our travels or how far away from home we may get; God will always watch over us and protect us from harm. Additionally, this hadith teaches us the importance of being mindful of our actions at all times since they will ultimately determine how successful our journeys are.
