Riyad as-Salihin 922 (Book 6, Hadith 29) #37411
The Reward of Praising Allah After Loss

SUMMARY: This hadith explains that when a person's child dies, Allah will ask the angels what the person said in response. If they reply that the person praised Allah and said "Inna lillahi wa inna ilaihi raji'un", then Allah will reward them by building a house for them in Jannah called Baitul-Hamd.

Abu Musa Al-Ash'ari (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of Allah said, "When a man's child dies, Allah, the Exalted, asks His angels, 'Have you taken out the life of the child of My slave?' and they reply in the affirmative. He (SWT) then asks, 'Have you taken the fruit of his heart?' and they reply in the affirmative. Thereupon He asks, 'What did my slave say?' They say: 'He praised You and said: Inna lillahi wa inna ilaihi raji'un (We belong to Allah and to Him we shall return)'. Allah says: 'Build a house for my slave in Jannah and name it Baitul-Hamd (the House of Praise)"'. At-Tirmidhi.

QUICK LESSONS:
Remember to praise God even during difficult times; Remain steadfast in your faith; Thank Him no matter what happens; Trust His plan.

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith speaks about how we should respond to loss and tragedy. When a person's child passes away, instead of becoming overwhelmed with grief and sadness they should remember to praise God for His mercy and grace. In return for this act of faithfulness and trust in God's plan, He will reward them by building a house for them in heaven called Baitul-Hamd or 'the House of Praise'. This teaches us that even during difficult times we should remain steadfast in our faith and trust that God has something better planned for us. We must remember to always thank Him no matter what happens because He is always watching over us and rewarding those who are faithful to Him.
