Judging by Words and Actions

SUMMARY: The Prophet (ﷺ) taught that people will be judged according to their words and actions, and that we are all witnesses of Allah on earth.

Anas (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: Some Companions happened to pass by a funeral procession (bier) and they praised him (the deceased). The Prophet said, "He will certainly enter it". Then they passed by another funeral procession and they spoke ill of the deceased. The Prophet said, "He will certainly enter it"'.Umar bin Al-Khattab (May Allah be pleased with him) said: "(O Messenger of Allah,) what do you mean by 'He will certainly enter it?'' He replied, "You praised the first person, so he will enter Jannah; and you spoke ill of the second person, so he will enter Hell. You are Allah's witnesses on earth". Al-Bukhari and Muslim.

QUICK LESSONS:
Speak kindly about others & Act with justice

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith teaches us that our words and actions have consequences. We are all witnesses of Allah on earth; whatever we say or do is seen by Him. The Prophet (ﷺ) said that if someone praises another person they will enter Jannah or Paradise while if someone speaks ill of another person they will enter Jahannam or Hellfire. This hadith reminds us to be mindful of our speech and actions as it can determine our fate in the hereafter. We should strive to always speak kindly about others and act with justice so that we may receive the mercy of Allah in the afterlife.
