Riyad as-Salihin 951 (Book 6, Hadith 58) #37440
The Power of Testimony in Islam

SUMMARY: This hadith explains that if four people testify to the righteousness of a Muslim, Allah will grant them Jannah. Even if only two people testify to their righteousness, they will still be granted Jannah.

Abul-Aswad (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: I came to Al- Madinah, and while I was sitting beside 'Umar bin Al-Khattab, a funeral procession passed by. The people praised the deceased, and 'Umar bin Al-Khattab said: "He will certainly enter it". Then another funeral procession passed by and the people praised the deceased'.Umar bin Al-Khattab (May Allah be pleased with him) said: "He will certainly enter it". A third funeral procession passed by and the people spoke ill of the deceased. He said: "He will certainly enter it". I (Abul-Aswad) asked: "O Amir Al-Mu'minin (ie, Leader of the Believers)! What do you mean by 'He will certainly enter it'?" He replied: "I said the same as was said by the Prophet . He said, 'If four persons testify the righteousness of a Muslim, Allah will grant him Jannah'. We asked: 'If three persons testify his righteousness?' He replied, 'Even three'. Then we asked: 'If two?' He replied, 'Even two'. We did not ask him (regarding the testimony) of one". Al-Bukhari.

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith speaks about the power of testimony in Islam. It is narrated by Abul-Aswad and Umar bin Al-Khattab who were both companions of the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ. The hadith states that if four people testify to the righteousness of a Muslim, Allah will grant them entrance into paradise or Jannah. Even if only two people witness their good deeds, they will still be granted entrance into paradise. This shows how important it is for Muslims to do good deeds and have others witness it so that they can receive rewards from Allah in the afterlife. It also shows how powerful testimony can be in Islam as even two witnesses are enough for someone to gain entry into paradise.
