Knowledge and Protection from Hellfire

SUMMARY: The Prophet (ﷺ) taught a group of women the knowledge Allah had taught him and promised that any woman who lost three children in infancy would be protected from the Fire of Hell.

Abu Sa'id Al-Khudri (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: A woman came to the Messenger of Allah and said: "O Messenger of Allah! Only men benefit from your talks, so please fix a day for us, to teach us the knowledge which Allah has taught you". The Messenger of Allah fixed a day and directed them to assemble. When they gathered, the Prophet went to them and taught them what Allah had taught him. He then said, "Any woman of you whose three children die (in infancy) they will be a guard for her against Fire (of Hell)". One of the women asked: "What if she loses two?" The Messenger of Allah replied, "Even two". Al-Bukhari and Muslim.

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about the importance of knowledge and protection from hellfire. The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ was asked by a woman to teach them what Allah had taught him. He then agreed to do so and gathered them together on a certain day. On this day he taught them what Allah had taught him and then said that any woman whose three children die in infancy will be protected from the fire of hell. When one woman asked if two would suffice, he replied that even two would suffice for her protection against hellfire. This teaches us how important it is to gain knowledge as well as how merciful Allah is towards those who have suffered great losses in life such as losing their children at an early age. It also shows us how much reward awaits those who strive for knowledge even when they are faced with difficult circumstances in life.
