The Best Deeds

SUMMARY: The best deed is to have faith in Allah and His Messenger, followed by Jihad in the cause of Allah, and then Hajj Mabrur.

Abu Hurairah (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Prophet was asked: "Which deed is the best?" He replied, "Faith in Allah and His Messenger". Then he was asked: "What is next?" He replied, "Jihad (holy fighting) in the Cause of Allah". Then he was asked, "What is after that?" He replied, "Hajj Mabrur (an accepted pilgrimage)". Al-Bukhari and Muslim.
وعنه قال‏:‏ سئل النبي أي العمل أفضل‏؟‏ قال‏:‏ ‏"‏إيمان بالله ورسوله‏"‏ قيل‏:‏ ثم ماذا‏؟‏ قال‏:‏ ‏"‏الجهاد في سبيل الله‏"‏ قيل ثم ماذا‏؟‏ قال‏:‏ ‏"‏حج مبرور‏"‏ ‏(‏‏(‏متفق عليه‏)‏‏)‏ ‏"‏المبرور‏"‏ هو الذي لا يرتكب صاحبه فيه معصية‏.‏

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith speaks about the best deeds that a person can do. It states that having faith in Allah and His Messenger is the best deed one can do. This means believing in all of God's teachings and following them as closely as possible. After this comes jihad which means striving for something good or fighting against evil. Lastly, it mentions hajj mabrur which is an accepted pilgrimage to Mecca where Muslims perform certain rituals such as circling around the Kaaba seven times and praying at Mount Arafat. All these deeds are important for a Muslim to do if they want to please God and gain rewards from Him on Judgment Day.
